Client Needs

The client runs a family owned farm shop which is commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. The farm shop offers a wide variety of local fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy and meat products.

Due to the nature of the business, which includes refrigeration for food produce, the client has high energy costs that have seen a large increase over the last few years.

In a bid to further its sustainability goals and to reduce their electricity bills, the client decided to look into solar and local company recommended Myriad. (The recommendation came from a Bespoke Joinery Manufacturer in the area, who are very happy with their 190kW solar system).

Project Solution

Myriad provided a very competitive Solar PV quotation. We analysed a full year of half-hourly electricity import data in or to calculate the optimum solar system size and we identified that based on their nighttime usage there was a strong case for battery storage.

Myriad undertook the DNO application and due to grid infrastructure issues we had to work with Scottish & Southern and the client to find a solution that worked for all parties.

The final project scope that the DNO approved was for 49kWp of solar with a 9kW export limit. The customer also had16.4 kWh of battery storage with a view to increasing this in the future (the batteries are modular).

We installed Tier 1 JASolar 550w modules, Solis inverter with the Solis Export Power Manager and an Alpha ESS T10-HV-16.4kWh BESS.

We also arranged for the structural survey of the roofs to be done.
