Client Needs

The college is an extensive and very busy site with a thriving residential community which has uses a substancial amount of electricity both day and night.

Their annual electriicity consumption is almost 300,000 kWh per year and they have experienced increasing energy costs over the last two years.

Myriad had already installed and continue to maintain their commercial biomass boiler, so when they were considering ways to reduce their energy costs and to cut their carbon footprint further, they came to us for a solution. The simple solution to this problem was to install the 103kWp ground mount system using Renusol Console+ tubs + 206kWh of batteries.

Project Solution

Myriad were able to provide a very competitive Solar PV quotation. We analysed a full year of half-hourly electricity import data and calculated the optimum PV system size of 103kW, combined with 206kWh of battery storage, would maximise onsite usage, minimize export to the grid and deliver the best possible ROI.

Using PVGIS (industry standard geo-locational PV generation software) we calculated that the PV system would generate an estimated 93,881 kWh per annum.

Myriad undertook the DNO application and gained approval from National Grid. The college is made up of many beautiful and historic buildings and the site contains a large number of trees that have preservation orders, so a full planning application for the solar ground array was required, which Myriad steered to a successful conclusion.

As always, we installed Tier 1 panels, in this case, JA Solar 540w modules and Solis inverters, which are one of the most trusted inverter brands in the solar sector. The battery storage system was the industry leading Alpha-Ess Storion Series T100.

Myriad installed the solar PV and battery storage quickly and professionally with the minimum of disruption to the college’s busy on-site activities.
