Client Needs

The client is a manufacturer of quality bespoke joinery for the high-end residential market, including windows, doors, staircases and cabinetry.

They are a high energy usage business with an annual site consumption in excess of 600,000 kWh per annum. As with many UK businesses they have had to deal with steep increases in electricity prices over the last two years.

Myriad had already installed and continued to maintain their waste wood biomass boiler (500kW) which has hugely reduced their heating bills, so when they were considering ways to reduce their electricity bills they came to Myriad for a solution.

Project Solution

Myriad provided a very competitive Solar PV quotation. We analysed a full year of half-hourly electricity import data and calculated the optimum PV system size of 190kW, which would maximise onsite usage and minimize export to the grid, in order to deliver the best possible ROI.

Using PVGIS (industry standard geo-locational PV generation software) we calculated that the PV system would generate an estimated 184,331 kWh per annum.

Myriad undertook the DNO application and gained approval from Scottish & Southern. We also arranged for the structural survey of the roofs to be done. Due to the proximity of the site to Danebury Hillfort, a full planning application was required, including a glint & glare assessment, which Myriad steered to a successful conclusion.
