Wates Residential approached Myriad to provide specialist solar PV design consultancy for a programme covering 28 standard house types for new-build residential developments.
Working alongside Wates, the project architects and MEP consultants, Myriad has developed coordinated solar PV designs within Revit. A bespoke Revit family was produced by Viridian specifically for Myriad, allowing the Viridian in-roof PV system to be accurately incorporated into the architectural models and coordinated with the wider building services design.
For each house type, Myriad has coordinated the PV panel layouts, cable and duct routes, and inverter locations. The designs consider SAP requirements, manufacturer guidance and the wider MEP strategy, ensuring the solar installation is properly integrated into the building rather than treated as a separate element later in the design process.
Working directly within Revit also allows potential clashes and coordination issues to be identified during the design stage, helping architects, MEP consultants and solar designers work from a coordinated model.
The programme will provide Wates with a defined solar PV design for each standard house type, creating a repeatable approach that can be carried forward across future new-build housing developments.
For Myriad, the project demonstrates how detailed solar PV design consultancy and BIM/Revit coordination can support housing developers at an early stage, helping integrate renewable technology into standard residential designs from the outset.
