Commercial Solar PV Maintenance & Servicing

Commercial Solar PV Maintenance & Servicing

PV| Commercial| Service and maintenance

Myriad Heat & Power Products (“Myriad”) specialise in commercial Solar PV and offer a full range of solutions for roof-top and ground-mounted PV projects.

Myriad have been leading the way in renewable energy projects for 20 years and we have a proven track record for delivering renewable energy projects that reduce energy bills and cut carbon emissions.

Regular solar panel servicing and maintenance, monitoring and cleaning will assist the effective life and power generation of your solar PV system, reducing the risk of damage and prolonging the life of major components. This proposal is for the Monitoring and the Maintenance of your solar PV system although we do also offer panel cleaning if required.

PV Inverter Health Check Inspection

Myriad provide a professional inspection and maintenance regime to identify and resolve technical and other problems before and as they arise.

Planned professional maintenance is important for:

  1. Mechanical and electricity safety and security
  2. Performance and longevity
  3. Ensuring the system meets its owner’s expectations

Typical Included Scope:

  • Visual inspection of all accessible DC cables.
  • Measurement & recording of VOC, ISC & RISO of all DC strings.
  • Internal inspection of all accessible DC isolators for terminal security and general condition.
  • Inspection & recording of inverters data including total generation and error messages (if contributes to condition of PV system).
  • Functional test of all AC isolators (where accessible & in original PV scope).
  • Inspection of meter(s) connected to PV system (where accessible & in original PV scope).
  • Functional test of breaker(s) connected to system (where accessible & in original PV scope).
  • Report of findings including any recommended remedials or improvements.
  • Provision of RAMS from our standard template (bespoke RAMS charged at POA).

Inspection & Condition Report of Roof Mounted Equipment

roof

Typical Included Scope:

  • Myriad will inspect and check the mechanical and electrical integrity and safety of the equipment installed on the roof.
  • Check mounting system secured / identify any slippage (for example, via a visual inspection of the array, and a pull-test on a sample of panels).
  • Confirm the correct clamps remain in the correct position as per the manufacturer’s design.
  • Check for any visible corrosion on any part of the mount or framing.
  • Check torque setting of a sample of clamp fixings as per manufacturer’s design, if possible.
  • Check for visible damage to any part of the roof, condition of gutters or presence of moss/birds’ nests
  • Check the roof internally for any visible signs of damage/deterioration.
  • Check for Soiling, lichen, damaged modules, bird nests, shading issues

PV System Monitoring

It is important to monitor the amount of electricity your system is generating to ensure that strings and inverters are all working correctly.

roof

Typical Included Scope: Myriad will:

  • Receive notification of errors as soon as they arise
  • Provide regular reports showing generation data
  • Resolve any PV System Faults as they arise
  • In consultation with you we will manage all issues as they arise via the remote maintenance portal which provides you with the following benefits:
  • Notification of errors as soon as they arise.
  • Provide regular reports showing generation data over timeframes to suit your requirements / weekly / monthly / yearly etc.
  • PV System Fault Finding.
  • Potential areas of failure we will be looking out for include:
  • Individual PV module breakdowns.
  • Lightning strike and severe weather causing cable and and/or glass breakages.
  • Glass dirt/soot/pollen/bird waste build up or clouding.
  • Cable damage from pests or corrosion.
  • Inverter breakdowns.
  • Voltage surges causing electronic failures.

There are a few things to look out for -

  1. For panels that are fixed at a shallow pitch, dirt can accumulate which will need period washing. - Dirty panels can produce up to 50% less kWh
  2. Birds may choose to nest under the panels - bird guards can be fitted if necessary.
  3. Other pests can chew cables etc which should get picked up by a remote monitoring system.

PV Panel Cleaning

It is important to monitor the amount of electricity your system is generating to ensure that strings and inverters are all working correctly.

clean

Myriad can provide panel cleaning for roof-top or ground-mount arrays - essential in dusty environments to ensure power generation is maximised

Please note: if heavy soiling (eg lichen) is present this may require a chemical clean at an additional cost.

Info we need to accurately quote the cleaning:

  • Pictures of the completed installation
  • Panel Dimensions and kWp
  • No of panels
  • Roof pitch (max 22deg)

Frequently Asked Questions

Do commercial solar panels need maintenance?

Yes. Although solar PV has no moving parts, commercial systems still need regular maintenance to perform at their best. Panels lose output as they soil, inverters are the most common point of failure, and faults can go unnoticed for months without monitoring. Planned maintenance protects your generation, your savings and your manufacturer warranties.

How often should a commercial solar PV system be serviced?

Most commercial solar PV systems should have a planned preventative maintenance visit once or twice a year, with the right frequency depending on system size, site conditions and how dusty or shaded the location is. Larger ground-mount and industrial rooftop arrays often warrant more frequent inspection and cleaning.

What does commercial solar PV maintenance include?

A typical Myriad O&M visit covers a full electrical and mechanical inspection, inverter checks and diagnostics, performance and monitoring review, connection and mounting checks, panel cleaning where required, I-V curve testing, and fault-finding with any required repairs. You receive a clear report on system health and output.

Can you maintain a solar PV system you did not install?

Yes. Myriad provides independent solar PV operations and maintenance for systems installed by other contractors, as well as those we installed ourselves. We will assess your existing array, identify any issues and put a maintenance plan in place.

How much does commercial solar panel maintenance cost?

The cost of commercial solar PV maintenance depends on the size of the system, the number of inverters, site access and whether cleaning is required. Myriad provides bespoke maintenance packages priced to your system and operational needs. Contact our service desk for a tailored quote.

What happens if my solar inverter fails?

Inverter faults are the most common cause of lost solar generation. Myriad provides reactive repairs and call-outs alongside planned maintenance, with remote technical support to diagnose issues quickly and a national engineer network to attend site, often with the right parts identified before we arrive.

Do you offer commercial solar panel cleaning?

Yes. Solar panel cleaning is part of our maintenance offering. Soiling from dust, pollen, moss and bird fouling can noticeably reduce output, so we clean panels safely as part of planned maintenance or as a standalone service.

Where in the UK does Myriad provide solar PV maintenance?

Myriad covers the whole of England, Wales and Scotland through a national network of trained and accredited field service engineers, supported by a dedicated service desk offering telephone technical support in and out of office hours.
